Strengthening Community Partnerships: NIDC Hosts NYC Commission on Human Rights

The NIDC staff gathered around a conference table, smiling during a meeting.

NIDC recently welcomed Annabel Palma, Chair and Commissioner of the NYC Commission on Human Rights, along with members of her team, for a discussion on housing rights and community advocacy.

We were happy to reunite with an old friend. During her time as a New York City Council Member, Commissioner Palma worked closely with NIDC’s Housing team to support her constituents in staying in their homes through eviction prevention services. Her continued dedication to housing justice aligns with NIDC’s mission to support Bronx residents in securing stable and affordable housing.

Looking ahead, NIDC and the NYC Commission on Human Rights will collaborate on educational workshop and direct support opportunities. This includes office hours at NIDC, where community members can connect with Commission staff for guidance on housing rights and more.
