Bringing Stories to Life: Author Meet & Greet Series

At NIDC, we believe in the power of storytelling to inspire young minds. Our Author Meet & Greet series brings writers into schools, giving students the opportunity to engage with authors, explore new ideas, and see themselves reflected in powerful stories. 

Recent Highlight: Tahlia’s Inspiring Visit 

In January, we were thrilled to welcome Tahlia South, a very talented young author, to our afterschool program for a reading and discussion about her book, Super Tahlia Helps at the Hospital. The story follows a young girl supporting her mom, a nurse, proving that no one is too young to make a difference. 

During the visit, Tahlia shared their personal writing journey, inspiring our students with the message that even small acts of kindness can create a big impact. Students had fun unleashing their creative powers and seeing themselves as heroes by decorating their own capes and masks. The conversation and activity reminded everyone in the room that they, too, have the power to be everyday heroes. It was a motivational and unforgettable experience! 

Each event is a chance for students to meet incredible authors, hear their stories, and explore the magic of books.
